Liquid dosing systems are used to treat large volumes of product by dosing smaller volumes with precisions of up to 0.1% (depending on volume and application).

Operation

The liquid dosing system mainly consists of a storage system in accordance with MIE APQ (0 to 10) depending on the product. This storage is equipped with a filling system from the product container (from IBC, tank, etc.), a measurement system (cells, radar, maximum levels), and, if necessary, may have an agitation, heating, or cooling system.

Subsequently, a process delivery system is available. Depending on the required precision, the system will have a pumping system which may be controlled by measurement in the storage tank (by discount), online flow meter, or reception hopper with precision weighing.

The type of pumping system will depend on the product to be dosed, as well as the materials and treatments for the system piping.

The different dosing solutions we offer are used to ensure reliable and precise feeding of the product/material.

The necessary equipment for proper dosing is made up of the dosing equipment and an appropriate control system. To achieve optimal results, the equipment must be compatible with each other and suitable for the material to be handled. In addition, system operation depends on the correct design of the communication assembly between the various pieces of equipment at both the input and at the discharge.

Operation

At GMdix Process Engineering, we offer solutions for both volumetric and gravimetric dosing by weight loss or gain, for both principal or secondary products, continuous or discrete (in batches).

Technical characteristics

All the components of our equipment are selected based on the characteristics of the products to be dosed, while always complying with dosing precision, ease of use, and longevity parameters.

All our gravimetric feeders are supplied with state-of-the-art microprocessors touch controls with easy-to-use operator interfaces.

Construction materials may be very different depending on requirements. These may be carbon steel, stainless steel, etc. Different non-stick surface finishes and abrasion resistant coatings are also available.

Depending on the products to be handled, we offer equipment with internal agitators for materials with poor fluidity.

We also offer solutions for easy disassembly and cleaning, which enable quick product changes.

The maximum allowable temperature for this equipment is 80ºC-250ºC. For higher temperatures it is necessary to consult GMdix.

Options: These may be configured with multiple options: bag feed hopper, Big-Bag loading, quick-close valves at the outlet, etc. Also available for installations in classified areas (ATEX areas).

Hopper operation

The hopper is a container similar to a large funnel into which the product is loaded from the top. It has capacity to store a sufficient quantity to carry out uniform and efficient channelling thanks to the deep slope which allows complete emptying of the product while preventing loss. All types of sensors to monitor its operation are common additions for precise control over its usefulness.

Airslides application

It is used in installations for conveying powder materials at low speed. To use this system, the material to convey must be fluidisable. It is also used for the dosing of materials.

GMdix airslide technology is used for the loading and unloading of storage and homogenisation silos, and for conveying materials in different manufacturing phases for cement, ash, steel and plaster dust.

Installations are also designed for other industries: food, chemical, steel, mining for fluidisable products.

Operation

This technology is a system that enables powder materials to be conveyed suspended on an air bed.

Air enters the airslide through threaded sleeves and is distributed over the entire surface. Once sufficient internal pressure is achieved, the air exits through the porous fabric, starting the process of fluidising the material. Fluidisation allows particles to be separated by surrounding them with air bubbles and keeping them loose.

Finally, the material is conveyed due to the slope of the airslide between 4º and 10º.

Application of melters

Melters are containers used for the melting of raw materials in solid state at room temperature for incorporation into processes in liquid state. For example: melting of margarine for incorporation into automatic confectionery processes; melting of chocolate for food coatings; or melting of paraffins in chemical projects.

Operation

Melters are mainly comprised of a storage container, which may have either a cylindrical or square geometry and may be constructed of different materials, primarily stainless or carbon steel.

These have a work area in the upper part, which is used as a support for the product to be subsequently poured onto a grate located in the upper part and heated by hot water or steam. This grate is the element that melts the product by conduction, which then precipitates through the grate into the container.

In order to preserve the product state, the container is equipped with a water or steam heating jacket, keeping the melted product in a liquid state until incorporation.

Finally, this industrial equipment incorporates an agitation system to prevent phase separation while enhancing homogenisation of product temperatures.

Reactors are used in different processes required in applications for the manufacture of creams and lotions in both the cosmetics and pharmaceutical industries. They are also used for the preparation of emulsions, as well as any type of exothermic or endothermic process in the chemical and food industries.

Reactor operation

Reactors are industrial equipment used to produce changes stemming from chemical reactions.

This equipment operates in batches in which all components involved in the chemical reaction are introduced. Through agitation and thermal exchange processes, the chemical reaction is produced, resulting in the final product. This may be through exothermic or endothermic processes, which can be carried out in the same equipment or through recirculation, such as: Recirculation through blender, recirculation through heat exchanger, etc.

Diverter valve operation

Advantages of Diverter Valves

The characteristics of each diverter valve depend on the materials to be conveyed. Y diverters are much cheaper than commercial drums. However, they can retain product remains inside, which would cause contamination between different products that pass through the same channel. To minimise this problem, blower inlets are installed to clean the contaminated areas.
These are easy to use as only the opening and closing of each channel need to be controlled.
Maintenance is minimal and simple, requiring only periodic checks of element wear.

Technical characteristics

There are different formats of diverter valves. These may be constructed in-house or commercially available; the latter may use rotary drums to eliminate the valves. Measurements vary according to the pipe to be used and if they are treated. They may be coated internally with anti-wear materials to minimise abrasion.

Polyester filter fabric.
Maximum operating temperature: 140ºC.
Maximum recommended fluidising pressure: 1 bar.
Great resistance and long useful life.
Lengths greater than 1,000 mm are equipped with an attachment screw on the upper edge.
