Liquid dosing systems are used to treat large volumes of product by dosing smaller volumes with precisions of up to 0.1% (depending on volume and application).

Operation

The liquid dosing system mainly consists of a storage system in accordance with MIE APQ (0 to 10) depending on the product. This storage is equipped with a filling system from the product container (from IBC, tank, etc.), a measurement system (cells, radar, maximum levels), and, if necessary, may have an agitation, heating, or cooling system.

Subsequently, a process delivery system is available. Depending on the required precision, the system will have a pumping system which may be controlled by measurement in the storage tank (by discount), online flow meter, or reception hopper with precision weighing.

The type of pumping system will depend on the product to be dosed, as well as the materials and treatments for the system piping.

Operation

All the components of our equipment are selected based on the characteristics of the products to be dosed, while always complying with dosing precision, ease of use, and longevity parameters.

All our gravimetric feeders are supplied with state-of-the-art microprocessors touch controls with easy-to-use operator interfaces.

Construction materials may be very different depending on requirements. These may be carbon steel, stainless steel, etc. Different non-stick surface finishes and abrasion resistant coatings are also available.

Depending on the products to be handled, we offer equipment with internal agitators for materials with poor fluidity.

Hopper operation

The hopper is a container similar to a large funnel into which the product is loaded from the top. Airslides application

It is used in installations for conveying powder materials at low speed. To use this system, the material to convey must be fluidisable. It is also used for the dosing of materials.

GMdix airslide technology is used for the loading and unloading of storage and homogenisation silos, and for conveying materials in different manufacturing phases for cement, ash, steel and plaster dust.

Installations are also designed for other industries: food, chemical, steel, mining for fluidisable products.

Operation

This technology is a system that enables powder materials to be conveyed suspended on an air bed.

Air enters the airslide through threaded sleeves and is distributed over the entire surface. Once sufficient internal pressure is achieved, the air exits through the porous fabric, starting the process of fluidising the material. Fluidisation allows particles to be separated by surrounding them with air bubbles and keeping them loose.

Finally, the material is conveyed due to the slope of the airslide between 4º and 10º.

Reactors are used in different processes required in applications for the manufacture of creams and lotions in both the cosmetics and pharmaceutical industries. They are also used for the preparation of emulsions, as well as any type of exothermic or endothermic process in the chemical and food industries.

Reactor operation

Reactors are industrial equipment used to produce changes stemming from chemical reactions.

This equipment operates in batches in which all components involved in the chemical reaction are introduced. Through agitation and thermal exchange processes, the chemical reaction is produced, resulting in the final product. This may be through exothermic or endothermic processes, which can be carried out in the same equipment or through recirculation, such as: Recirculation through blender, recirculation through heat exchanger, etc.

Application

Through screw conveyors are used to convey solids for both powder and granular materials.

Through screw conveyors designed by GMdix for each project are characterised by their robustness and reliability to ensure optimal operation in any situation or need for the conveying of solids. They also have a low maintenance cost due to the quality of their materials and top international brand components. We supply through screw conveyors of any size.

Depending on requirements, various types of end bearings, shaft seals, intermediate suspension bearings, helix designs, etc. may be used.

Operation

The through screw, also known as the Archimedean screw or helical screw, is made up of a toothed blade in the form of a helix that extends longitudinally along the shaft of the screw. Between turns of each screw, a space is formed in which the materials to be conveyed are deposited, which rise or advance each time the screw turns.

To move the through screw, a motor is installed, which is in contact with its helix that makes it rotate every time the motor turns. This motor rotation transfers the movement to the through screw.

The characteristics of the through screw used in each industrial installation depend on the flow to be dosed, the type of product, the point of origin, and the discharge point.

Parts of a through screw conveyor:

1.- Conveyor (through screw)

The conveyor is comprised of a through screw, which is basically a helix wound on a central shaft that makes it rotate. The helix may be helical or sinusoidal, and is sometimes replaced with blades, depending on the materials to convey.

The helices are made up of different ridges, separated by a certain distance (known as spacing). The ridges or helices also have a diameter, which is calculated according to their intended use.

2.- Housing

The housing is the structure that surrounds the through screw and through which the materials conveyed by the screw circulate. It is normally tubular or U-shaped and has a larger diameter than the helix.

  • Tubular through screw feeders and risers:
    Ideal solution for dosing products at short distances. The standard measurements for this type of through screw range from Ø65 mm to Ø400 mm with lengths and designs tailored to each application.
  •  U-type trough through screw feeders:
    Ideal solution for dosing products at short and medium distances and for processes that require interior inspection of the equipment. Custom lengths and designs for each application.

3.- Motor

The electric motor is connected to the screw shaft and drives its operation. This is an electric motor with a speed reducer coupled to the housing bedplate. Motor power must be in accordance with the distance that the material must travel and the weight to convey.

4.- Hopper or loading area

Constructed in sheet metal just like the housing, this is the receptacle through which the bulk material to convey is introduced.
